Jindalai

Jindalai is a favorite flower of the Korean ethnic people.

Long ago,there were brother and sister who lived at the foot of Changbai Mountain.Their parents died when they were young.They survived by cutting firewood and farming.At that time,the imperial court was corrupt and extortion.The official selected a beauty to offer sacrifice to Heaven every year.The sister unfortunately was selected by the government a year.At that news,brother and sister had to flee into the mountains.(https://www.daowen.com)

Officers and soldiers surrounded the mountain forest,searching them for days.The brother and sister came across an old man with white hair who gave them two treasures:a white horse and a sword.The brother and sister defeated the officers and soldiers,and opened the granary to distribute crops to people.

The troops from the imperial court killed the sister and white horse,and tied the brother to be beheaded in the downtown.On his way to downtown,the brother was being beat,his blood dripping out and printing his footprints.He died in the valley on his way to the downtown.Soon,the flowers grew up in the footprints which the brother remained,pink color with fragrance.The flowers were in blooming against the cold wind and snow,named Jindalai by the Korean ethnic people.The Korean people regard Jindalai as a solid and tenacious national spirit,as well as a symbol of beauty,happiness and auspiciousness.
