Arirang (A Li Lang in Chinese) is a famous Korean folk song,which originated from a Korean sorrowful love story.Lilang and Miaofu had been lovers for a long time.Later,Lilang,being a member of peasant uprising,went to battle far away.Before Lilang’s leaving,they dated that they would meet three years later.After Lilang left,the landlord’s son often harassed Miaofu,but she refused him firmly and tried her best not to meet him.After three years,Lilang returned back.When the two hugged each other tightly and told each other how much they missed each other,Lilang suddenly saw that the landlord’s son was coming.He,getting angry,killed the landlord’s son with a sword and rode away.Miaofu was in agony,singing and crying,telling the truth.On his way to the south hill,hearing the song suddenly broken,Liliang came back to home.Miaofu committed suicide,and Liliang regretted deeply.Miaofu’s sad and touching singing deeply moved the villagers nearby.Since then,Korean ethnic people have sung the love story between Lilang and Miaofu.(https://www.daowen.com)
