Love Story of A Couple of Naxi Lovers (Lu Ban Lu Rao in Chinese) is a beautiful fairy tale in Dongba Scriptures,which is a religious classic of Naxi ethnic group in southwestern China.

According to the fairy tale,a Naxi girl,Kamegamiki,fell in love with a boy named Zhu’en Yulepai of her village.However,the boy’ s parents broke up the couple of lovers because of the huge discrepancy of the two families’ social rank.Therefore,the girl was so sorrowful that she thought she had got the call of Youzu Azhu and Goutu Xigong,who were the goddess and god of love in the love kingdom of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain,then the girl died for love and went to the love kingdom.After hearing the news of Kamegamiki’s death,the boy was so sad that he also died for love to follow his girl.As a result,the couple of lovers lived a happy life in the love kingdom of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.(https://www.daowen.com)

Comprising about 1,600 glyphs,the Dongba characters are pictographic and ideographic glyphs used by the Naxi people of Lijiang Prefecture in southwestern China,including pictograms,associative compounds,self-explanatory characters,and pictophonetic characters.Formed in Tang (618—907 A.D.) and Song (960—1127 A.D.) Dynasties,the Dongba culture has a history of nearly 1,000 years.
