The Secret History of the Mongols (Yuan Chao Mi Shi in Chinese) is the earliest extant Mongolian national history and literature scroll.The Secret History of the Mongols chronicles the deeds and genealogy of the ancestors of Genghis Khan(1162—1227),the founder of the Mongol Empire.

In the 13th century,Genghis Khan founded the Mongol Empire.In 1271,Kublai,the grandson of Genghis Khan,established the Yuan regime in China.The Secret History of the Mongols is a very extensive work,covering the origins,evolution,and aspects of life of the Mongolian people.It consists of fourteen volumes that can be roughly divided into three parts:①the ancestry of Genghis Khan’s ancestors and the origins of the various clan tribes;② the story of Genghis Khan’s life;③the important facts of reign of Ögedei Khan (1186—1241),the third son of Genghis Khan and second Great Khan of the Mongol Empire by succeeding his father.(https://www.daowen.com)
