米碎姐和糠妹（京族）
Smashed-Rice Sister and Chaff Sister (From the Jing Ethnic Minority Group)
米碎姐三岁时，妈妈病死了。爸爸娶了后娘，后娘生了个女儿，叫糠妹。后娘偏心，给糠妹吃好饭好菜，给米碎姐吃馊饭冷菜，还要逼着米碎姐干很重的活。米碎姐苦哇，天天夜里偷偷跑出来，到娘的坟前哭拜。
When Smashed-Rice Sister was three years old,her mother died of an illness.Her father married again and her stepmother gave birth to a girl,whom he named Chaff Sister.The stepmother made a favorite of Chaff Sister,giving her good meals but giving Smashed-Rice Sister skimpy and cold meals.Worse still,she asked Smashed-Rice Sister to do all the hard work.Living a miserable life,Smashed-Rice Sister stole away from home every night and went to weep at her mother’s tomb.
日子久了，娘变成一只小鸟，总是在暗中保佑米碎姐。米碎姐长得一天比一天漂亮；糠妹虽然吃好穿好，却还是面黄肌瘦。后娘更加妒忌了，总是想办法折磨米碎姐。
As time went by,her mother became a little bird to protect her in secret.Smashed-Rice Sister grew prettier and prettier while Chaff Sister kept lean and haggard though she had always been well-fed.This,of course,aroused jealousy form the stepmother,who tried all evil means to torment Smashed-Rice Sister.
后娘故意把一大碗绿豆倒在灶灰里让她拣。米碎姐只好到娘的坟前去哭。小鸟飞来，把灰里的绿豆一粒一粒啄到碗里。后娘要米碎姐每天做一双鞋，缝一套衣服，做不完就别想离家半步。米碎姐又到娘的坟前去哭，哭完回来，一双新鞋和一套新衣就做好了。米碎姐可以出去玩了。米碎姐漂亮，歌又唱得好，附近的小伙子都来向她求爱，后娘气坏了。
The stepmother poured a big bowl of mung beans into the stove ashes and told Smashed-Rice Sister to pick them up.As she was unable to do it,the poor girl went to weep bitterly at her mother’s tomb.The little bird flew in to peck the beans from the ashes and put them into a bowl.But the stepmother never ceased her evil deeds.She told Smashed-Rice Sister to make a pair of shoes and a set of clothes every day.The poor girl was not allowed to leave home all the day till she completed the required job.Smashed-Rice Sister again sneaked out and went to weep at her mother’s tomb.As she returned home,she found that a pair of new shoes and a set of new clothes had been made for her.She was able to go out and entertain herself with a light heart.She was not only beautiful but also good at singing.Young men came from far and near to woo,which enraged the stepmother.
宫里的天子还没结婚，到村里来举办歌会选美人。村里的姑娘都打扮得漂漂亮亮去对歌。后娘把糠妹打扮一番，带她去参加歌会，却捧出一篮乱纱，要米碎姐在家里老老实实理纱。她们一走，米碎姐又到娘的坟前去哭。小鸟对她说：“别哭了，乱纱早已经理好啦，床上还有你的花鞋和绫罗衣服哩。”
The king,who was not married yet,held a party in the village to select a beauty as his future wife.Attired in their holiday best,the girls in the village went to sing dialogue songs with the king.The stepmother dressed up Chaff Sister to attend the party,but took out a basket of tangled yam for Smashed-Rice Sister to sort.Feeling miserable at heart,Smashed-Rice Sister went to weep at her mother’s tomb again.The little bird said to her，“Don’t be sad,my child.I’ve sorted the yam and put your embroidered shoes and satin dresses on your bed.”
米碎姐回到家里一看，果然一切都办好了。她高兴地向天拜了拜，说：“娘啊，女儿谢谢你哟！”匆匆穿起新衣，着上新花鞋，急急忙忙去参加歌会。
Back at home,Smashed-Rice Sister found everything ready for her.She saluted the sky in a happy mood,saying,“A thousand thanks to you，Mom!”She hurried to the party，wearing her new dress and embroidered shoes.
天子和姑娘们对了半天歌，找不到意中人，忽然看见又进来一个漂亮姑娘，就是米碎姐，他眼前一亮，连忙迎上前去跟她对歌。这个时候，后娘也看见米碎姐了，朝她恶狠狠地瞪了一眼，开口就要骂人。米碎姐吓坏了，拔腿就走。
The king had not found the girl of his heart by dialogue songs until he saw a sweet girl coming to the party.The girl was none other than Smashed-Rice Sister.The king was rushing forward to sing dialogue songs with her when the stepmother noticed her,shot an evil glance at her and was about to swear at her.Terrified,Smashed-Rice Sister hurried to run away.
天子见自己中意的姑娘匆匆走了，心里闷闷不乐，也只好骑马回去。谁知道天子的马走到一座石桥边，却不愿意再朝前走了。天子觉得奇怪，下马一察看，在桥下寻到一只花鞋。天子拿到花鞋，马又朝前走了。天子想，莫非这就是刚才那个漂亮姑娘掉下的？于是贴出告示，让各地的姑娘来认领这只花鞋。(https://www.daowen.com)
Seeing the girl of his heart leaving in a hurry,the king rode back to his palace in a depressed mood.When he arrived at a stone bridge,his horse refused to move forward.With great curiosity,the king dismounted his horse to look around,only to find an embroidered shoe under the bridge.Strangely enough,his horse started to move on again after he picked up the shoe.With the shoe in his hand,the king wondered whether the shoe belonged to the beautiful girl he had seen at the party.To satisfy his curiosity,he had notices posted throughout the country,asking the owner of the shoe to claim it.
原来这只鞋正是米碎姐匆忙回去时掉落的。后娘看到告示，想让糠妹去顶替，就吓唬米碎姐：“天子说你偷了宫衣，正在到处抓你哩，还不快把衣服和鞋都脱下来，让老娘代你去请罪。”米碎姐吓坏了，只好把新衣和一只花鞋都交给了后娘。后娘把米碎姐锁在家里，再把新衣和鞋让糠妹穿上冒充米碎姐，到王宫去见天子。天子一见，一双花鞋正好对上，就糊里糊涂把糠妹当作那天见到的姑娘，跟她成了婚。
As it turned out,Smashed-Rice Sister dropped the shoe on her way home from the party.Seeing the notice,the stepmother wanted Chaff Sister to claim the shoe.So she intimidated Smashed-Rice Sister by saying,“The king says that he will hunt you down all over the kingdom as you’ve stolen the court dress.You’d better take off your dress and shoe.I’ll go to the king and ask mercy for you.”Frightened at her words,Smashed-Rice Sister handed over the new dress and shoe to her stepmother.After locking Smashed-Rice Sister at home,the evil stepmother dressed Chaff Sister up in new dress and shoe,going to the palace to claim the shoe.As the two shoes match each other,the king mistook Chaff Sister for the beloved girl at the party,marrying her as his wife.
后娘怕事情败露，回家后又毒死了米碎姐，埋在荒野地里。
For fear that truth might be out,the stepmother poisoned Smashed-Rice Sister at home and buried her body in the wasteland.
一年以后，地里长出一棵拉提树，树顶上结了一只黄澄澄的拉提果。一个善良的老婆婆看见了，她从来没见过这么好的果子，站在树下不肯走，双手拽开衣襟，等着果子掉下来。说来也怪，不一会儿工夫，果子真的掉进了她的衣襟。
A tree grew from the land a year later,on top of which matures a golden fruit.A kind-hearted granny saw the fruit,which she had never seen before.Standing under the tree,she spread her clothes to wait for the fruit to fall.How strange it was! Not long afterwards the fruit fell into her laps.
老婆婆把拉提果带回家，放在床头，从此就出现了怪事。她每天上市场去卖贝、虾回来，灶房里总是放着热腾腾的饭菜。这是谁给她做的呀？有一天，她躲在门角落里偷看，终于发现拉提果裂开来之后，冒出一个漂亮的姑娘，正要到灶房去替她做饭。老婆婆扑过去一把抱住了姑娘，一定要姑娘做她的女儿。姑娘变不回去了，就答应了老婆婆的要求。不过姑娘有个请求，她一五一十说出了自己的遭遇，要老婆婆帮她申冤。
Back at home,the granny put the fruit at her bed-head.Almost immediately strange things began to happen.When she returned from selling shells,fishes and shrimps at market every day,she would find that a hot meal was ready for her in the kitchen.She wondered who had cooked them.One day when she hid herself in the corner beside the door to see what would happen,she saw the fruit crack and a pretty girl come out to cook in the kitchen.She threw herself on her and held her in her arms,insisting that the girl be her foster-daughter.The girl consented at last,but requested that the granny help her take revenge.
老婆婆一口答应，第二天就到王宫去见天子，说了米碎姐的冤屈。天子半信半疑，跟着老婆婆去见米碎姐。他们一见面，天子认得米碎姐正是他在歌会上见过一面的姑娘，就把她带回王宫。糠妹出来一看，怎么米碎姐又活过来啦，一时心慌，拔腿就跑，掉到河里淹死了！
The granny readily agreed and went to see the king in the palace,telling him the unjust treatment Smashed-Rice Sister had received.Skeptical about her words,the king decided to go with her to see Smashed-Rice Sister.As soon as he saw the girl,he realized that she was the beautiful girl he had met at the party.So he brought her to the palace.Seeing that Smashed-Rice Sister had come back to life,Chaff Sister was so scared as to flee from the palace in terror.In a haste to escape,she fell into a river and got drowned.
从此以后，米碎姐成了真正的王后。
From then on,Smashed-Rice Sister became the real queen.
