Yanmen Collection of Poems

Yanmen Collection of Poems (Yan Men Ji in Chinese) is written by Sa Du La (1272—1355 A.D.),a famous writer of the Hui ethnic group in the late Yuan Dynasty (1206—1368 A.D.).

Sa Du La was good at writing poems and articles,skilled in drawings and proficient in calligraphy.In all his life,Sa Du La had created plenty of poems and essays which mainly consist of two parts.One part records the social life,some ridiculing the success and failure of the current political affairs,some sympathizing the miserable life of the people,some revealing the cruelness of the military battles to the people.The other part expresses his own feelings,some recording the luxurious life led by the royal family,some chanting the unique scenery in the frontier fort,some expressing admiration for the majesty of the landscape.He was praised as the champion poet in the Yuan Dynasty (1271—1368 A.D.) by the later generations for his works are rich in content and various styles.
