Tourism is one of the world's largest and fastest growing industries.It plays an increasingly important role in the process of world economic development.The Chinese tourism industry has also made remarkable achievements in recent years.Its competitiveness has been strengthened,and its status and role of a big tourism country have been valued by all other countries.Throughout history and the world,China's tourism industry is in important period of strategic opportunity for development.
China's GDP per capita has exceeded $10000 in 2019,the demand of tourism consumption has shown explosive growth.Among them,outbound tourism grew the fastest.As early as 2014,the number of outbound tourists in China has exceeded 100 million,and it reached 150 million in 2019,exceeding the number of inbound tourists.China's tourism consumption ranked the first in the world.In this case,how to correctly guide and standardize the development of the inbound and outbound tourism is an important issue for China's tourism industry.
Based on the above reasons,teachers from the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management and the Department of Foreign Languages of Jianghan University worked together to plan and compile this textbook.In order to improve the teaching level and adapt to the needs of tourism development,this textbook is written in both Chinese and English,trying to make innovations in the structure and content of the textbook under the background of meeting the education and teaching reform requirements from the Ministry of Education.Around the theme of developing China's inbound and outbound tourism,this textbook is committed to present the latest ideas of teaching reform.Through the effective combination of theory and practice,we hope to provide students with richer,newer,more systematic and more instructive basic theories and knowledge,so that they can have a better understanding of the basic situation of the world's major tourist source and destination countries.
The main features of this textbook are as follows:
First,bilingual writing in Chinese and English.This method not only meets the needs of China's international tourism development,but also meets the requirements of the construction of bilingual textbooks by the Ministry of Education and the actual needs of the teaching process.Readers can not only broaden their horizons and enrich their professional knowledge,but also improve their English reading ability.

Thirdly,the information is more detailed,the data is more novel and the content is more abundant.Textbook adopts the latest information,closely following the actual development of China's tourism industry,and comprehensively introduces the territory,natural features,population,nationality,brief history of development,politics,economy,tourism market,tourism resources and other basic situations of major countries on all continents.
Fourthly,each chapter gives thinking questions corresponding to the content of this chapter,which not only pays attention to the knowledge,but also highlights the practical application.
Finally,the textbook presents some related knowledge in the form of QR code,which not only enriches the content of the textbook,but also saves space for students'further learning.
The division of writing is as follow:the Chinese part is compiled by Zhang Jinxia,the English part is compiled by Wang Yue and Liu Qiong,and the outline planning and final compilation is responsible by Zhang Jinxia.
