There are 38 World Heritage Sites in India that are recognized by UNESCO as of 2019.India's first two sites inscribed on the list at the Seventh Session of the World Heritage held in 1983 were the Agra Fort and the Ajanta Caves.Over the years，36 more heritages have been inscribed，including 7 natural heritages，30 cultural heritages and 1 mixed heritage of culture and nature，ranking sixth in the world in quantity.The cultural heritages in India are marked by their brilliant craftsmanship on stone.Most of the temples of India which are inscribed on this list are built in stone，without any mortar and with sculpture carved on it.(https://www.daowen.com)
