美国的国家政体为联邦总统制，实行立法、司法和行政三权分立，即立法权、行政权和司法权分别由国会、总统和联邦最高法院行使。三个部门行使权力时，彼此互相牵制，以达到权力平衡。国会有立法权，总统对国会通过的法案有权否决，国会又有权在一定条件下推翻总统的否决；总统有权任命高级官员，但须经国会认可，国会有权依法弹劾总统和高级文官；最高法院法官由总统任命并经国会认可，最高法院又可对国会通过的法律以违宪为由宣布无效。总统执掌行政权，既是国家元首，又是政府首脑；总统不对国会负责，直接对选民负责。

美国是一个经济高度发达的国家，国民生产总值长期居世界第一位。美国是世界最大的工业国，具有庞大完整的工业体系，生产能力和出口量都很大。农业高度发达，机械化程度高，粮食总产量约占世界的五分之一，出口量居世界前列。美国拥有完整而便捷的交通运输网络，旅游基础设施完备，旅游业相当发达。(https://www.daowen.com)
