发展简史（Brief History of Development）

新加坡古称淡马锡，在公元8世纪之前，它只是个无名的海岛小渔村。8世纪建国，属室利佛逝王朝。18—19世纪是马来柔佛王国的一部分。1824年至二战前沦为英国殖民地。1942年被日本占领。1945年日本投降后英国恢复殖民统治。1946年划为英属殖民地。1959年实行自治，成为自治邦。1963年脱离英国管辖加入马来西亚。1965年8月9日在李光耀的领导下，成立了新加坡共和国，成为一个总统制的主权独立国家。现在新加坡已成为经济发达的国家。

Singapore was founded in the 8th century AD and was part of the Johor Kingdom of Malaysia in the 18th and 19th centuries.It became a British colony since 1824.In 1963，Singapore seceded from Britain and joined the Federation of Malaysia.In 1965，the Republic of Singapore was founded.(https://www.daowen.com)
