1.Natural Tourism Resources(自然 旅游资源)

1)The Great Barrier Reef(大堡礁)

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system composed of over 2900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2300 kilometres over an area of approximately 344400 km2.The reef is located in the Coral Sea,off the coast of Queensland,Australia.

The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from outer space and is the world's biggest single structure made by living organisms. This reef structure is composed of and built by billions of tiny organisms, known as coral polyps. It supports a wide diversity of life and was selected as a World Heritage Site in 1981.CNN labeled it one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

A large part of the reef is protected by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, which helps to limit the impact of human use, such as fishing and tourism.Other environmental pressures on the reef and its ecosystem include runoff, climate change accompanied by mass coral bleaching, and cyclic population outbreaks of the crown-of-thorns starfish.According to a study published in October 2012 by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the reef has lost more than half its coral cover since 1985.

The Grea tBarrier Reef has long been known to and used by the Aboriginal Australian and Torres Strait Islander people, and is an important part of local groups'cultures and spirituality. The reef is a very popular destination for tourists, especially in the Whitsunday Islands and Cairns regions.Tourism is an important economic activity for the region, generating over$3 billion per year.

2)The Blue Mountains(蓝山山脉)

The Blue Mountains is a mountainous region and a mountain range located in New South Wales,Australia. It is a magical place any time of the year—glowing in autumn, cool in winter, colourful in spring and refreshing in summer. The Blue Mountains is densely populated by oil bearing Eucalyptus trees. The atmosphere is filled with finely dispersed droplets of oil, which,in combination with dust particles and water vapor, scatter short-wave length rays of light which are predominantly blue in color. The Greater Blue Mountains was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2000 and was one of 15 World Heritage places included in the National Heritage List on 21 May 2007.(https://www.daowen.com)

4)Phillip Island(菲利普岛)

Phillip Island is an Australian island about 140 km south-southeast of Melbourne,Victoria.Named after Arthur Phillip, the first Governor of New South Wales,Phillip Island forms a natural breakwater for the shallow waters of the Western Port.It is 26 km long and 9 km wide, with an area of about 100 km2.It has 97 km of coastline and is part of the Bass Coast Shire.

A 640 m concrete bridge(originally a wooden bridge)connects the mainland town San Remo with the island town Newhaven. In the 2011 census the island's permanent population was 9406,compared to 7071 in 2001.During the summer, the population swells to 40000.60%of the island is farmland devoted to grazing of sheep and cattle.

5)Ayers Rock(艾尔斯岩)

Ayers Rock is also known by its Aboriginal name“Uluru”.It is a sacred part of Aboriginal creation mythology.Uluru is considered one of the great wonders of the world and one of Australia's most recognizable natural icons.Uluru is a large magnetic mound large not unlike Silbury Hill in England. It is located on a major planetary grid point much like the Great Pyramid in Egypt.

Ayers Rock is a large sandstone rock formation in central Australia,in the Northern Territory. It is located in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.It is the second largest monolith in the world(after Mount Augustus, also in Australia),more than 318 m high and 8 km around. It also extends 2.5 km into the ground. It was described by explorer Ernest Giles in 1872 as“the remarkable pebble”.

Uluru is an inselberg, literally“island mountain”,an isolated remnant left after the slow erosion of an original mountain range.Uluru is also often referred to as a monolith, although this is a somewhat ambiguous term because of its multiple meanings, and thus a word generally avoided by geologists. The remarkable feature of Uluru i sits homogeneity and lack of jointing and parting at bedding surfaces, leading to the lack of development of scree slopes and soil. These characteristics led to its survival, while the surrounding rocks were eroded. For the purpose of mapping and describing the geological history of the area, geologists refer to the rock strata making up Uluru as the Mutitjulu Arkose, and it is one of many sedimentary formations filling the Amadeus Basin.
