As a business man, we should pay attention to the western banquet etiquette. Here are some tips for you.
Before the meal
◆ Remain standing until your host sits.
◆ Place your napkin on your lap after everyone is seated and after your host has moved his/her napkin.
During the meal
◆ Avoid talking about religion, politics, race and so on.
◆ Maintain good eye contact.
◆ Do take your time eating, talking and especially listening to everyone at the table.
After the meal
◆ When finish eating, put your knife and fork on the plate side by side with their sharp ends pointing forward, which means you have finished your meal.
◆ Don’t argue over that check or offer to pay the tip; the host who invited you must take care of both.
◆ Make sure you thank the host for the meal. Shake hands before you leave and maintain good eye contact.
In a word, we must understand western etiquette and basic knowledge of it, so that we can avoid embarrassment when we are in a business banquet.

Trade Fair Goes Online

On March 25, the G20 summit was held via the internet. This was the first time that the leaders of the world’s 20 major economies have held a summit online, noted Xinhua.
On April 7, the State Council announced that the 127th China Import and Export Fair, which was scheduled to be held in Guangzhou on April 15, will be held virtually in June, according to Xinhua.This year, with the help of information technology, companies from all over the world will be able to display their products online. They can also conduct negotiations and place orders from home,according to Li Xingqian, director of the Ministry of Commerce’s foreign trade department.
“Organizing the event online is not only a practical measure to deal with the pandemic, but also an innovative development to the traditional fair,” said Li, during a State Council news conference on April 10.
Indeed, developments in the digitalization arising from China’s anti-coronavirus fight are set to accelerate the country’s digital transformation beyond the epidemic, according to China Daily.
