Part III Listening and Thinking
A: Passage
Script:
The British have many traditions but there is nothing more typical than taking afternoon tea. It dates back to the 1840s, designed as a light snack to bridge the gap between lunch and dinner. It went on to become a fashionable social occasion for the upper classes. Remember the rules you must follow.
1. Make sure you order the correct thing - it is afternoon tea not high tea, or cream tea.
2. Dress smartly - it’s an important occasion. Certain places demand a man wear a jacket and tie and ladies should wear a hat.
3. When you sit down, place a napkin on your lap. It will keep your clothes clean and can be used to wipe small crumbs from your face.
4. Stir your tea correctly - do not clink your spoon against the cup and do not leave it in the cup! Stir back and forth not around in circles.
5. Hold the tea cup by its handle with your thumb and forefinger together, and then use your middle finger to support and balance the bottom of the cup. Do not allow your little finger to stick out.
6. The sandwiches are called “finger sandwiches” and therefore eaten by hand not with a knife and fork.
7. Don't saw your scone in half. Ideally it should be broken into equal halves with your hand.
8. When eating, take small bites. This will allow you to join in conversation without always having a full mouth.

Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Nestlé have been accused of “zero progress” on reducing plastic waste, after being named the world’s top plastic polluters for the third year in a row.
Coca-Cola was ranked the world’s No. 1 plastic polluter by Break Free From Plastic in its annual audit. Its beverage bottles were the most common waste found on beaches, rivers, parks and other litter sites in 51 of 55 nations surveyed. Last year it was the most frequently littered bottle in 37 countries, out of 51 surveyed.
Coca-Cola came under fire from environmental campaigners earlier this year when it announced it would not abandon plastic bottles, saying they were popular with customers. In March, Coca-Cola,PepsiCo, Nestlé and Unilever were found to be responsible for half a million tonnes of plastic pollution in six developing countries each year in a survey.
Coca-Cola said it was working to address packaging waste, in partnership with others, and disputed the claim that it was making no progress.
“Globally, we have a commitment to get every bottle back by 2030, so that none of it ends up as litter or in the oceans, and the plastic can be recycled into new bottles,” a spokesperson said. “Bottles with 100% recycled plastic are now available in 18 markets around the world, and this is continually growing.”
The spokesperson said Coca-Cola had also reduced plastic use in secondary packaging, and that globally more than 20% of our products comes in refillable or fountain packaging.

Reference:
Yes, I am. We have only one earth, it's our duty to protect the environment. But now the environment is getting worse and worse. It is necessary for us to take some actions to prevent the environment from being polluted. We shouldn't spit and throw litter in public. We should keep our city clean and tidy. Please remember to turn off the lights when you leave the room and don't forget to turn off the shower when we finish washing hands. We'd better walk or ride a bike instead of taking a taxi or a bus. It is important to plant trees to keep air clean. We can also plant some flowers to make our country more beautiful. Use both sides of paper when you write. Stop using plastic bags for shopping. Make classrooms less noisy. We don't need to do big things—we can start out small.
