5.5.2.3　Locating sentinel lymph nodes

Photoacoustic imaging can be used for the localization and biopsy of sentinel lymph nodes，and achieve higher contrast and resolution，making it possible for more accurate sentinel lymph node biopsy and metastatic melanoma diagnosis.A hand-held photoacoustic microscopy system modified from a clinical ultrasound array system was applied for sentinel lymph node detection.Image-guided needle biopsies were successfully performed by using this hand-held photoacoustic microscopy system.The results indicated that photoacoustic imaging could be used for image-guided sentinel lymph node biopsy with high accuracy.(https://www.daowen.com)
