8.5.1.5 Skin-penetrating peptides
Skin-penetrating peptides are short peptides with less than 30 amino acid residues.Unlike the aforementioned chemical penetration enhancers,skin-penetrating peptides belong to biological penetration enhancers with good biocompatibility and low toxicity. They can be used to promote the transdermal administration of peptides, proteins, nucleic acids, nanoparticles, and other biologically active molecules by physical mixing, formation of fusion proteins, covalent connection, modification of carriers.Presently,a variety of skinpenetrating peptide preparations are undergoing the clinical trial, among which the clinical trial of RT-001 for the penetration of botulinum toxin A in treating facial wrinkles, and AZX-100 analogs for the penetration and absorption of HSP20 to prevent skin scars have entered phase Ⅱ clinical trail.(https://www.daowen.com)
