6.5.11 The applications of polymer nano-drug carriers in enhancing the phototherapy of psoriasis

Besides using ultraviolet light,photodynamic therapy using near-infrared light has also been used in the treatment of psoriasis.Li et al.prepared a single molecule micelle drug carrier(Figure 6-11(c))with a size of about 30 nm by using the amphiphilic zinc phthalocyanine-Brij 58 conjugate.Zinc phthalocyanine can absorb near-infrared light of 600-800 nm(Figure 6-11(d)),and can produce singlet oxygen under near-infrared light to realize the treatment of psoriasis.

Although polymer nano-drug carriers can improve the skin penetration ability of drugs to a certain extent,most polymer nano-drug carriers still remain in the upper epidermis,and their skin penetration depth and drug delivery efficiency are still limited.To further improve the therapeutic effect of psoriasis,combining polymer nano-drug delivery system with ionosmosis therapy,microneedles and other physical enhancement method can improve the utilization rate and therapeutic effect of drugs.The relevant content is discussed in other chapters about psoriasis in this textbook.(https://www.daowen.com)
