9.4.2 Wearable polymer
With the increasing demand for wearable devices(e.g.,sports bracelets),more and more polymers combined with flexible electronic technology are applied to wearable portable devices for life health monitoring, including the detection of heart rate, pulse, body temperature, blood pressure and biological indicators in sweat(Figure 9-4).The requirements of wearable polymer are as follows:①It is a functional material that can realize the integration of different functional devices;②It can meet the requirements of mechanical stability and skin affinity of flexible electronic devices at the same time.
At present, flexible electronic devices can be installed on wearable polymers(e.g.,polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS))and other film patches to achieve the detection of daily physiological indicators, such as daily monitoring of skin temperature, skin pH and calcium level.Such flexible electronic devices can be connected to wireless devices through bluetooth, and are sensitivity and repeatability. The layered network made of carbon nanotubes and gold nanotubes can produce a good linear response to the urea level in body fluids, and can be used as a sensor for various biomedical detection.Poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)film loaded with hollow spherical nanoparticles(NPs)containing glucose oxidase, can detect glucose.(https://www.daowen.com)
There are also films made of other wearable polymers that can be applied to the skin for drug delivery and disease treatment.Polyimide(PI)film and poly(p-xylene)film are also used to carry flexible electronic devices such as LED lights and microarray syringes that can be implanted subcutaneously to monitor blood pressure and drug injection.Agarose hydrogel, which is loaded with NPs and heatable flexible electronic devices, can build effective platform for temperature control. It can be used in chronic wounds and burns of skin, which can maintain slobber' s moisture, prevent pathogen damage and promote transdermal delivery of drugs and growth factors.
