After years of development,laser cosmetology has been widely used in clinical practice.Skin has a high scattering characteristic,which is determined by its refractive index mismatch of different tissue structures.In laser surgery,part of the incident laser beam can reflect from the surface.When photons penetrating the surface,reflection,refraction,scattering,and absorption can occur in the tissue.When the scattered light overlaps with the incident light,the light energy of the subcutaneous tissue is superimposed,and the light is absorbed by the target tissue,causing damage to the target tissue.However,the high scattering characteristics of the skin reduce the penetration depth of the light in the tissue,the light reaching the target tissue in the skin is less than the incident light,and the target tissue absorbs less energy.Increasing the energy density of the laser increases the energy absorption of the target chromophores,but it also increases the risk of skin damage such as blister,pigmentation,and scarring.Some recent studies have shown that optical clearing agents(OCAs)can reduce the scattering of light in tissues and enhance the penetration depth of laser(Figure 9-5).Therefore,they have a certain prospect in the field of skin laser beauty.They can enhance the therapeutic effect of deep skin diseases,reduce the energy required to clear target tissues,and thus reducing the skin damage caused by laser.In addition,laser operation often causes a few skin injury,such as erythema and edema,and medical dressings can be used to promote skin healing at this moment.In laser surgery,it is very important to reduce skin scattering and prevent skin injury,which can produce good effects.In this section,we mainly introduce the application of OCAs and medical dressings in laser surgery.(https://www.daowen.com)
