9.3.1.3 Natural and synthetic composite scaffolds

Using a unique combination of natural and synthetic materials to make tissue engineering scaffolds has been explored by many researchers,as a method of utilizing the inherent biocompatibility of natural materials while making up for its lack of sufficient mechanical strength.Natural biomedical polymer materials have the disadvantages of low mechanical properties and fast degradation, which hinders its clinical application. In contrast, most synthetic biomedical polymer materials have good mechanical and physical properties, which can be controlled during the production process. The combination of different synthetic and natural ingredients makes the composite scaffold exhibits better controllable degradation rate and chemical properties. To further solve the above problems, skin cell biology and in-situ manufacturing technologies are needed, including 3D printing and other technologies.Interdisciplinary communication is essential for tissue regeneration, and skin repair and regeneration are no exception.(https://www.daowen.com)
