When people talk about electric power in China，again you will hear the name of Shaanxi，for this is the province that harbors the most professional power distribution network company in China and nurtures the most dynamic electric power market of the country.
Headquartered in the city of Xi’an，Shaanxi Regional Electric Power Group Co.，Ltd.（SPG）is a leading player in China’s regional electricity industry.SPG delivers electric power services to 1000 plus townships in 90 counties and districts in 9 municipalities of Shaanxi province，including Xi’an，now China’s 9th National Core City，and Yulin，the only national energy-chemistry base in China.SPG’s power supply also reaches beyond Shaanxi province to benefit areas in neighboring provinces such as Shanxi，Gansu，and Inner Mongolia.With 5.48 million customers，SPG proudly serves 76% of the provincial territory and nearly 20 million residents.Over the past three decades，SPG has developed its excellence and specification in power distribution network.With its electricity sales exceeding 40 billion kWh，total assets valuing USD4.78 billion，operating revenue topping USD3.19 billion and registered capital increased to USD1.6 billion，SPG now stands as China’s largest and best-performing distribution company.

SPG has been engaged in building a development community with openness and inclusiveness by actively implementing big data strategies and information technology，leading the strategic alliance of key equipment technology innovation of intelligent distribution grid.SPG has built an automatic smart meter maintenance system and is popularizing the application of diversified payment methods，smart meters，UAV（unmanned aerial vehicle）line-patrolling，and line inspection robots.SPG strides towards an IT-based and intelligent group by putting in place a four-level information“highway”connecting the provincial，municipal，county，and station levels through dispatching and management networks which make grid management increasingly data-based，standardized，and fine-grained.SPG has been actively involved in exchanges and cooperation with the EDF Group of France，Tokyo Electric Power Company（TEPCO），Singapore Power Group（SPGS），and has built a technology sharing platform with Tsinghua University，Xi’an Jiaotong University，and North China Electric Power University.SPG has successfully deployed the GIS system for the power distribution network integrating the full coverage of geographic information and distribution automation systems.It showcases how the vision of development based on consensus，collaboration，and sharing can benefit all stakeholders.
SPG earnestly provides universalized service and fulfills its social responsibility.It has been contributing to poverty alleviation in Shaanxi by implementing projects such as“Harmonious Electricity Entering Households”，“Sunshine-Solar Energy”solar power generation and poverty-relief project，rural network renovation & upgrading，and providing remote villages with access to electricity in the province.SPG has contributed a poverty relief fund of USD4.73 million to provide financial assistance to elementary schools and poor students.SPG has also been active in disaster relief.In response to the heavy storm and flood in Yulin on 26 July 2017，SPG took effective measures in emergency rescue and restored power supply in the shortest possible time.SPG’s efficiency was record-setting and won recognition from the local residents and government.Such actions speak louder than words for SPG’s strength and care for the community.
Guided by the vision of green，sustainable，and quality-based development，SPG answers the country’s call for developing alternative energy sources and facilitating energy transition by expanding hydropower，wind power，solar power and other clean energy sources as well as accelerating the building of the clean energy system.There has been a 16.4% increase in new energy generated electricity within SPG’s network and good progress in advancing energy efficiency programs and carbon fiber and carbon crystal heating projects and building charging stations for electric vehicles.Three of SPG’s hydropower plants have won support from the UN Global Environment Facility，and four hydropower plants have been listed as China’s first batch of Green Small Hydropower Projects，aiming to create a friendly，shared and green power grid.SPG plans to，by 2020，invest close to USD4.8 billion in building a modern power distribution network consisting of a range of projects to build and renovate 86 110kV substations with 5，128km of associated lines，and 22，542km of 10kV lines，with the rate of Coverage of Distribution Automation and smart meters amounting to 90%.The new network will feature improved grid structure，sufficient power supply capacities，advanced technology and equipment，comprehensive information acquisition，and intelligent power distribution and utilization.
