The Survey on New Faculty Orientation:the Case of a Top University in CHINA

Abstract:The New Faculty Orientation(NFO)is a critical step in a teacher's teaching career.The contents and forms of the NFO are diverse since universities start to carry out it.Through the survey to teachers in a top university in China who have taken the NFO in 2013 to 2019,the training programs which need deeper engagement win higher recognition,more diversified training contents and forms are more needed,and the teaching training programs characterized with time flexible,low entry cost and highdegree of self-control are more preferred.Based on the survey,we should build multidimensional service system for new faculty members for their teaching development;provide more comprehensive and diversified choices in training forms and contents,and give higher priority to those new faculty members who want to improve their teaching when designing the training program.
