Abstract：This paper reports a study of international students，both undergraduate and postgraduate，at a particular campus within an Australian university.The research outlines the problems those students face.It shows that these problems are expected to be caused by language and the understanding of academic writing.However，a more important factor is their inability to find the information they seek in the form they need.Another factor which also affects their experience is whether they or their parents have made the decision that they will study overseas.If the students have indeed poor English and are studying in Australia not because of their own wish，they are likely to suffer the most.Despite these factors，the research also shows that overseas student have great resilience and that many of their problems areshort-lived.
